I picked a rainbow theme to work for my Print-Based Portfolio Design. My concept is “Dawrayn-bow” which rhymes with “Rainbow”. Two reasons for that, one: my name has 7 letters; same as the rainbow which has 7 colors; two: my nickname is “daw”, and I love the rainbow – it was really a coincidence that my name can relate with the rainbow, somehow.

 

For the logo design, the font type used is “Up with the Birds Regular”, a sophisticated designer font I downloaded from Dafont.com. I filled up the words typed, “DAWRAYN” with colors of the rainbow to match with my overall concept. The thin words of “design studio” were added below my name, using “Minimal” font to balance the weight of my logo. As a whole, my logo design represents myself as a brand, and people can know my name by just looking at the logo.  

 

I executed my portfolio with a carefully designed layout, featuring graphics of my previous artworks by arranging them accordingly and presenting them as a whole. Types of fonts used are: “Helvetica Family”, “Brain Flower”, “KBSo Thinteresting”, “Minimal” and “Simplicity”. Various shapes and colors of different opacity were used to suit my concept of “Dawrayn-bow”. I also explored on typography design by maximizing the use of bold and italic; leading, tracking and kerning; and adding colors to words whenever suitable.

I've always feel that advertising is an interesting subject. Pictures and words can be combined to enhance a product/service. Sometimes when the two of them touch, the sparkle created can directly influence customer's decision.

Throughout my studies, I've explored on a few brands such as Philips, Air Asia, Yomeishu, Gong Cha (Group project), Guardian and much more.

 

The slideshow below is also a form of branding and advertising. Work is on an imagery brand: "I LOVE ice-cream" with its corporate items.
